I am considering using a Garmin 300xl IFR GPS instead of the garmin 396. I did some research on that today, since a 300xl is available for $1800 on VAF.
I worked on the install of the remote compass for the GRT and Dynon D6. I am still thinking of installing it aft of the baggage compartement in the tail of the aircraft.
I began to run what I thought was the wiring bundle for the GRT remote compass. Then I realized that it was way too short as I was running the wiring. It turns out that it is not the wiring bundle for the remote compass but is in fact the wiring bundle for the backup battery.
I realized that the wires to connect the Sport to the remote compass are installed in the 37 pin connector on the back of the sport. I have those wires separated out and bundled together. They will have to be run after the panel is installed. They wires already have the pins on the ends.
I tried to deternine a location to install the GRT backup battery. Too bad I did not know that I would be doing this or I would have planned for it when I was installing other items in the past.
