Brief Description:  finish bu battery wiring - troubleshoot stick wiri

I finished wiring the backup battery. I recieved a red wire with white stripe from GRT and installed it into the connector of the backup battery. I cut the three red/white wires near the connector and installed an inline fuse block. I put a 15 amp fuse in it.

I ran a 16 awg wire from the other end of the fuseblock forward to under the panel on the port side where I connected in to the 16 awg wire running from the switch on the panel, far left side, for the backup battery. I pulled back the two red/white wires that I had previously installed since those wires are now replaced with the 16 awg wire. The 16 awg wire is white, I used a red marker to put red marks on it to identify it as carrying power.

I noticed that the small green wire that carries the charge state signal to the EIS is nicked. I should repair that, perhaps with a drop of glue?

I used a multi meter to trouble shoot the stick wiring. The green button on the stick is for the engine start. I identified the grn/blk wire and green wire that should be activated by the green switch on the stick. They would not show connectivity on the meter when the stick button was pushed. I determined the reason. The green wire is attached to pin 28 on the stick side of the connecter, and pin 26 on the airframe side of the connector.

Something is connected to pin 28 on the airframe connector but I have not discovered what it is. That may be why the PTT also does not work.

Went back into the garage and removed pin 28 from the back of the stick connector, that is the green wire.

Tested pin 28 on the airframe connector and determined that it was a ground, it was black which was a pretty good hint :)

Removed pin 26, the black wire from the back of the stick connector, Swapped the black wire into pin 28 and the green wire into pin 26 on the stick connector. Joined the stick and airframe connector plug and found that the green and grn/blk wires now have continuity when the green button on the stick is pushed. Success !!
