Brief Description:  fabricating FAB mount plate.

Installed the existing mounting plate on the FAB and onto the engine. Put on the lower cowl to check the alignment. Marked the holes that align the FAB with the snout on the lower cowl.

Traced the outline and hole pattern from the existing mounting plate (which does not align properly) onto a 12x12 piece of .063 aluminum that I purchased at sun and fun.

Cut the plate out of the piece of aluminum using the band saw. I had to adjust the badsaw a bit to make it do the cut without wobbling around although it still did some. Perhaps it is time for a new blade. I used the table mounted belt sander to shape the piece. It works well but I need new sanding discs and probably a new belt. Drilled 5/16 holes in the edge of the piece.

When putting on the lower cowl I noticed that the hinge pin will not enter the lower cowl hinge because it is blocked by the skybolt fastener above it. I will have to resolve that.
