Brief Description:  Built FAB and fiberglass work on cowl

I built the FAB today. I decided to leave out the bypass door because I have read that in some instances the parts of the door assembly, usually rivets, come loose and are sucked into the engine. It seems that installing the door is perhaps more dangerous than not having one. If a new design comes along that seems safe, I may install it later.

I did not have the AN270 3-4 rivets that the plans called for. Instead I used AN2704-4 rivets although I did not have enough to finish. I need to order more along with the proper length bolts, AN4-17 with drilled heads and course threads to attach the FAB top plate and spacer to the bottom of the fuel servo.

After installing the box and the lower cowl it became obvious that the FAB does not alighn with the intake hole in the cowl. The box is too far to port.

Dick Isherwood stopped by to help for part of the time. His help was what allowed me to get the FAB built in a day.

Dick also helped make an air dam on the sides of the ramp on the top cowl. I did the other ramp two days ago.
