Brief Description: retention clip and doubler fabrication
Worked on the retention clips. I could ot figure out how to make the retrntion clips, which require a .040 jog in the .040 metal piece. I posted the question on VAF and got a response from a builder in the UK. He said that he had just completed this task and made the job by taking a piece of .040 stock, cutting a slot in it, putting the retention clip in the slot, turning the clip sideways and putting the assembly in a vice and tightning. I tried that and then modified the procedure by using a thicker piece of stock, about .060. It worked. I only made one tonight.
I also cut some pieces and shaped them for use as doublers for the aft bulkhead pieces where a wire will pull the front and back pieces taut.
I was at Sun and Fun today, as well as two other days this week. I attended the workshop put on by Ned Bowers from Skybolt. I took him the vides that I made about the production of the mounting strip. I also took him 26 of the old style fasteners which I returned to him in place of the 26 new style fasteners that he sent me to use.
