Brief Description:  Install hinges

Lawst night I drilled on the hinges to the lower cowl halves. Tonight I riveted the lowe cowl halves hinges in place. I also used MA 310 Adhesive that I bought from Jamestown to fix the hinge to the cowl. I drilled 1/4 holes in the hinge as per plans to provide an area for the adhesive to bond.

The hinge that I used was offset. That is it protruded 1/4 inch above the split line so as not to show the hinge eyes between the cowl halves. I used P5 hinges which are wider than those specified in the plans (P3 was specified).

Dick Isherwood stopped by to help. I used his pneumatic squeezer to instal the rivets on the cowl hinges. I also used his pneumatic squeezer to dimple the hinges on the sides of the lower cowl at the firewall and to install the rivets that hold the hinges in place. The hinges seem to work well and pins go in and out with ease. I used beolube on the pin and bevelled the tip. Dick showed me how to make some adjustment by using pliers to move the eyes to align with the pin.
