Worked again on the mounting strip. Earlier I determined that there need not be a gap in the strip between the cowling halves to accomodate the hinge that will secure the top and bottom cowl halves. As a result, the positioning of the fasteners has changed.
The new plan is to put a fastener at the top center of the cowl at the firewall, and space other fasteners 3.5 inches apart across the top and down the sides. This puts the bottom fastener near the cowl line.
I marked the new positions in blue sharpie. I made 3 "patches" that will join the 4 pieces of strip that go on the tops and sides for the pupose of making them one piece so that Ned Bowers from Skybolt can use those pieces to make the parts he will sell.
I accidently cut the bottom port mounting strip to make the patches, thinking that it was a piece of scrap. I made and installed a new one.
