Brief Description: throttle and mixture cables; quadrant
Worked to make the mixture and throttle cable lengths work out. I tinkered quite a bit with adjustment at both the throttle body end and the quadrant.
I removed the quadrant and cables because I was not having luck figuring it out and wanted to examine the quandrant connections. I measured the throw of the cables at just under two inches, when attached to the quadrant and actuated by the levers. The actual throw of the cables is over 2 inches. I realized that the levers do not move the cables their full potential travel.
The throw of the levers is a little less than 2 inches. No amount of adjustment will make it any longer. I have not read of this problem on VAF or anywhere else. I am using Dayton Murdocks deluxe throttle quadrant which is said to have a longer throw than the other one sold be Vans.
While I had the quadrant out I noticed that I had failed to install one of the 4 bolts that holds it together.
I hooked up the control cables to the throttle and mixture levers on the throttle body with the quadrant out of the airplane. With some tinkering I could get the throttle to go from stop to stop, just barely. The mixture needs another 1/8 inch of throw.
