Brief Description:  control linkages

Last night after putting the control linkages together I found that when I moved the stick or pushtubes there was binding and a screeching sound. Tonight I investigated that and discovered why. The pushrod tube from the back stick aft was scraping on the hole in the bulkhead which it passed through just aft of the rear stick.

At first I thought that I would need to open the hole wider. I actually began to do so with a dremel and stone. I thought a bit and realized that the remedy was not to open the hole wider, but to raise the pushrod tube by adjusting the nut that secures it to the plate in front of the rear seat. Duh!

I raised the tube by adjusting the nut and the scraping stopped. Inspection with a mirror clearly shows that the tube was raised and now fits well in the pass through hole without interference.

I also discovered that when I moved the front stick the blue wire bundle coming from the infinity stick chaffed on the control column. I removed the stick and repositioned the wire bundle cable outside the control column, which is a better idea in any case because it eliminates the possibility that the wire bundle cable would interfere with the pushrod movement.

I tried to attach the springs of the manual roll trim to the control column. It is a puzzle that I was not able to solve.
