Brief Description:  cabin heat box and nosegear mod to engine mount

Worked on the problem of the nosegear strut being hardened by excessive heat and not being able to ream it with the taper reamer. I purchased an S size drill bit and ran it through the hole I was opening in the nosegear strut where it attaches to the engine mount, in order to use the taper pin modification. When I use the reamer, I do get some residue indicating that it is cutting, but not much and on the beginning of the hole. I do not know if the reamer will continue to cut when it gets to the part of the hole that has been hardened.

I also purchased a slim unibit, 1/2 inch at its largest point and I am considering using that to pre form the hole to remove metal, then use the reamer.

I fabricated a mount for the cabin heat cable that I attached to the upper right hole in the cabin heat box mounting. I drilled a hole in the firewall and ran the cabin heat box cable through the firewall and through the adel clamp attached to the upper right mount, then down to an adel clamp attached to the lower right hole in the cabin heat box mounting, the to the final adel clamp that positions it to go into the swivel nut on the cabin heat box actuator. After installing the cable I realized that I would have to take it out again in order to install the insulation on the cool side of the firewall, or perhaps I should just slit the insulation and install it around the cable.

I went to home depot (not logged as work time) and purchased an airconditioner for the garage. It puts out cold air which seem to not affect the shop temprature at all!

I also looked at garden sheds. I measured the distance from the tail to the tip of the temporarily mounted engine mount at 16 feet 4 inches. My garage bay, front to rear, is 18 ft. That is too short for the fuselage with an engine mounted. I will either have to take the airplane to the airport or figure out how to extend the length of the garage. Because I have a garage door on both the front and back of one of my two garage bays, the tail can stick out the back of
