Brief Description:  firewall preparation, cutting, drilling

Cut the hole in the firewall for the cabin heat box. I tried my fly wheel cutter but it only dulled the cutter. Made a trip to Ace hardware to get a hole cutter. Rode my Harley there and got caught in a thunderstorm downpour. The kid at the hardware store sold me a hole cutter that he said would work on the madrel that I have and that I showed to him. He was wrong. Made another trip there and bought one that worked. Marked and cut the hole for the cabin heater box.

Fabricated the support bracket for the engine instrument manifold. Drilled the firewall and installed the manifold and support bracket.

Marked and cut a hole in the firewall for access to the nosegear strut taper pin. I measured the hole cutter and it measured one inch. I later noticed that the hole cutter is marked as 1 1/8 inch. I will need to find a stainless steel plug that will fit.

I received my shipment of bolts etc from Aircraft Spruce. Nothing in the order is what I need. I think that I made a mistake in ordering the bolts, I think I need drilled AN6-24 bolts and I ordered them undrilled. The nuts and washers were AN4, not AN6 that I need. I think that was their mistake.

Unpacked the nosegear strut that I shipped to Langair in Oregon to be modified for the Mark2 nosewheel fork. Fitted into the engine mount. I had to clean the paint off the surfaces of the strut to make it fit. It is very close tolerance. I am ready to drill and ream it but will wait until a time when I am not tired.
