Tim Sweeny and Jim Bucan, an EAA Tech Counselor stopped by to look over the project. Jim pointed out that the step mount interfers with the port side rudder cable just aft of the rear seat, under the baggage compartment floor. He recommended that I raise the hole that the cable feeds thru about 1/2 inch. They showed me that removing a little of the bulkhead material would allow the cockpit rails to fit better. I filed off some material and indeed, the port rail fits perfectly now.
