Since the supplied fiberglas door did not adequately match the curvature of the cowl, I made the door out of .040 6061T6 I obtained locally. As with most everything else regarding the cowl, the oil access door fit is a challenge. The recess molded into the top cowl is out of square and the depth is wrong and inconsistent. I worked a lot on fixing those problems by filing, sanding, dremel tool cutting and lots of cussing. Ended up with a pretty good fit for the aluminum door. Will drill for the Skybolt fasteners next. Would prefer to use Hartwell fasteners that don't require a screwdriver to open, but I have extra Skybolt fasteners from the cowl install, and just can't get myself to spend the extra bucks. Sure do like the look of the hidden hinge. I had to shim the side that attaches to the door .050, but other than that it looks great...
