This is where I wear full chemical respirator, latex gloves and safety glasses. Three processes occur hear. All of which is designed to prevent future corrosion due to salt water/ chemicals in the air.First, alodine 33 prepares the bare aluminum metal you see in picture one. Basically, diluted prosphoric acid. Then, alodyne- a nasty chemical that bonds with the metal giving it that gold sheen. Helps prevent corrosion. You don't want it on your skin or in your lungs.Third part is Akzo two part enamel. See pictures in Elevators(2).
