Measured and testing fitment of hinges to leading spar on rudder. Misplaced or never received spacers for hinges so fitted hinges to v-stab and rudder to ensure 3/8 clearance. No binding, rudder movement is free.
Raised lower rudder hinge mounting by 1/8" than plans indicated. Hinge axis of rotation was marginally greater than leading spar angle to vertical. Raising lower hinge by 1/8" allowed bottom of hinge better fit within hinge slot and rotation of hinge axis to be parellel to v-stab training edge and rudder leading edge.
Measured hinge drill points on rudder spar and prepped for drilling holes for hinge.
Also, quick test of thinning varnish on test strips. Once rudder hinges drilled, will varnish and be compete.
