Step 1: Install Rod Ends and Jam Nuts into both elevators. I made a tool to install the Rod Ends by cutting two slots in an old socket. Set 7/8 in (desired install height) plus distance from center to outer radius of Rod End (3/16 in) as referenc point to start with. I measured using the depth gage side of a set of calipers. Step 2: Attach Hz Stabilizer to the work bench. Step 3: Temporarily installed left then right elevator to Hz Stab using the AN hardware called out in the plans. Checked 30 deg up travel and 25 deg down travel. I ended up setting Rod End height no closer than 7/8 in called out for to keep the elevatior forward radius from hitting middle rivet on the two end of the Hz Stabilizer aft spar. I had to back out the outer Rod Ends by one-half turn on both the left and right elevators. Step 4: Secured elevator to trail position with duct tape on the counterbalance arm and Hz Stab.
