Brief Description: Riveted R & L Wing LE Assy to Main Spars
17-4: Right Wing: Step 3: Riveted the outboard LE Ribs to the R-Wing spar using the rivets called out in the plans. Riveted the second to the end rib closest to the wingtip to the spar. This step included a fit check of the upper wing skin butt joint with the upper wing side of the LE assembly. LE assy skin edge was sanded down approximately 2 to 5 thousands of an inch to provide a slight gap that did not overlap the top wing skin. Step 4: Riveted the remaining LE ribs to the main spar per the pop-rivets called out. Step 5: Riveted the LE skins to the main spars.
Left Wing: Step 1: Enlarge the tie-down hole to 5/8 inches versus 1/2 inch as on the right wing because the 3/8 inch tie-down mounted to the spar was not quite centered when attached to the spar, off by about 1/8 inches to the inboard side. Step 2: Final drilled common #30 holes of LE assy and main spar then assembled as before. Step 3: same as above. Took two trial fits to get butt seam sanded down properly. Step 4: Riveted the remaining LE ribs to the main spar per the pop-rivets called out. Step 5: Riveted the LE skins to the main spars.
