Brief Description:  More work on the inspection hole covers.

Today I got all of the inspection holes on the left wing done to the point that they are ready to be dimpled/primed/riveted. It takes me about 45 minutes to do one hole so I should be able to finish the right wing tomorrow.

The process is as follows:
First, I measure in .5" on each edge of the cover and make a mark in the middle. Then I place it on the ring, make sure it's centered (using the afore mentioned marks) and trace it onto the ring. The next thing I do is measure in from the edge of the hole on the skin 3/16"-1/4" depending on how much ring there will be and mark the rivet holes on the skin. The corner holes are 1/2" in from the adjacent edge. The middle holes are 1.5" from that mark. Then those holes are predrilled.

Next, the inspection ring is placed in the hole, centered using the outline of the cover on the ring and clamped into place. The predrilled holes are then drilled through the ring.

Then I mark the hole locations on the cover by marking a 1/4" in from the edge and drawing lines to connect them. The corner holes are 3/8" in from the edges. Then the middle holes are 1.5" from the corner holes along the drawn line. Those holes are then predrilled.

Finally, the cover is placed in the hole and drilled in place.
