Brief Description:  Cut hole for fuel filler in left wing.

Well, I had a revelation last time I worked on the airplane that I had missed a very important step when fabricating the straps. I had not cut the fuel filler hole in the wing skin so that the fuel tank hadn't been seated in the wing properly. I went to put the tank cover on and realized it wasn't going to fit because the fuel tank was sticking too far out the bottom!

So I took the fuel tank out, all the straps off, put lipstick on the fuel tank filler hole, put it in place and sure enough, it was up against the skin! I removed the tank and drilled a 2" hole where the lipstick had left a mark. I then retraced my steps for the top tank straps...inserting fuel tank, pushing tank tight against the stiffeners (oh yeah, and the filler neck now sticks out the hole, imagine that!), pulling the strap tight, marking it, remove the fuel tank, cut the straps and prime them. Left one done, on to the right side.
