Brief Description:  filled aileron counter balance tubes.

Today I went over to my brother-in-law, Kipp's place (and my parents-in-law too). He has a turkey fryer burner that worked great for melting the lead that needs to go in a tube in the nose of the ailerons. This is to balance out the ailerons so they feel nuetral in flight. Filling the tube full of lead yields about 6 lbs.

The lead shot was placed in a coffee can on the burner and melted.

Note: What not to do...
DO NOT place the tube itself on a turkey fryer burner as it will melt the end!!! We noticed it right away and didn't damage the tube too bad. We'll have to see if it will fit in the holes or if it distorted too much.

We used that for the test tube and it went well. The bummer is that I forgot to take pictures. Anyway, as Kipp poured the molten lead into the tube, I heated the tube from the outside with a MAPP gas torch so the lead wouldn't solidify halfway down the tube. It went smooth and the second tube went smooth as well.
