My father called and said he and a local pilot friend tested the ELT with its remote reader added. He said it worked just as designed. The idea here is that I had no place that I could put the ELT panel in the instrument panel and be sure it was really within my scan. I had suggested to him to provide an additional remote light that would activate if the ELT was opperating. The solution was to mount a remote reader to read the LED on the ELT and then turn on the light in the istrument panel that is within scan range. The actual ELT panel will be in the console between the seats. It is visable to the pilot, but I must look down and to my right just on the opposite side of the parking brake lever to see it. Hence, why I I felt a remote light was necessary.
