Brief Description:  Aileron Gap Seal Work

I added aileron gap seals months ago using 1/64" plywood. However, I left the final steps for later. Now I am adding 1.2 oz. fiberglass onto the outside of all the seals. It is put on with a .5" overlap onto the wing and covering the entire plywood seal plua a bit to cut off after the epoxy has cured. Since, the seals must flex I am using this very low weight material applied with T-88 Epoxy well thinned with MEK. The results on a test sample show a slight increase in rigidity, but the part will remain sufficiently flexible for the job. Further, the seals now do not rip at the edges if they are caught. The underside of the seals will get a teflon tap later where they contact the aileron surface.
