Brief Description:  Installing the Fuel Selector

I used an Andair valve and instrument mounted fuel selector. Aircraft Spruce says you can not extend these valves unless they are ordered that way. This is not necessarilly correct. See the Andair website for details. I also used the longest extension tube they sell and 2 universal couplings to complete the installation. One counpling was used at the firewall mounted valve and the other was used at the instrument panel mounted selector. The valve required a simple sleave I turned on my miniature Sherline lathe. I pressed the sleeve onto the valve and then pressed the universal joint in place. To make sure it would not rotate, even though very tight, I drilled for a roll pin installation. With the pin installed it will not break in use. Sorry, but I failed to take a photo of this assembly. The end result of this selector arrangement is an "off" postion which can not be used accidentally. You also get a left tank position pointing at the left tank gauge, a both position pointing straight up and a right position pointing at the right guage. I doubt one could make it safer than that. The selector plate just covers the edge of the gauges. This position was dictated by what the original builder had done, but in person it looks quite nice. The angled picture sort of gives a false impression due to not having any 3D information.
