Brief Description: Install Left Landing Gear Door Hinges
I removed the landing gear moveable door and used my router to cut a groove for the hinge pin installation for the new hinges. I also cut pckets for the hinges at the same time. The hinge pins are 3/16" stainless steel riding in brass tubes glued into the routed slot in the door. The slot was then filled with a wood strip glued into place above the hinge pin assembly to fill the remaining routed groove. The backs of the mina doors were routed also to allow the hinges to fit at the proper depth. The hinges are mounted using #10 stainless screws and locknuts counter sunk into the main door. I used Oak in both doors at the points I had to attach parts. These doors are much stonger than the plans called for originally. The finished assembly at this point works very well.
