Brief Description:  Finish Constructing the Landing Gear Solenoid Syst

We made up the connectors, mount posts and cables to install the solinoids. They were then installed in the aircraft. The mounting posts are shoulder screws with steel spacers and stainelss steel washers. We used 5/6" shoulder screws with 3/4" long steel spaces. This allows room for the 2 stainless washers on each side of the cable curve end. The mounting post is centered on the uplock hook directly below the attachment points for the plans specified cable and spring attachement points. This height allows for the basically correct height to mate with the solenoid. The locvation of the solenoid is shown in the photos. It is diagonally 3" from the main spar. The cable assemblies were made from the parts supplied with the solenoid, but have curved cable end formers added. These came from our Prescoitt True Value Hardware Store. The special black clip was made from 1/4" square steel stock to allow the cable to mate to the solenoid. A #6 stainless screw fastens the cable in place and a roll pin fastens the block to the solenoid. The travel of the solenoid was limited by placing stainless steel washers below the new metric bolts I got to fasten the solenoid to the mounting bracket. Do not use the screws with these solenoids as they are junk. We also substituted the mouting bolts supplied with the solenoids for stainless steel bolts and lock nuts,
