Brief Description:  Wire Right Landing Light

I worked on wiring the right landing light. This included installing and changing the stock wiring harness for the Hella Xenon lights. A relay is added to read the down and locked position of the landing gear. I spliced into the down terminal on the landing gear down position switch to turn on the light or turn it off as the case may be. The aircraft has 2 completely seperate landing lights. One on the left and one on the right main gear. Each is on a seperate circuit. Hence, the theory being that under most circumstances, except complete electrical failure, it will be impossible to have at least one landing light not working. Each light is activated by flipping a lighted rocker switch in the cockpit labled for the appropriate light. This turns the light on only if the gear is down and locked. One could call it an "arming" switch. Whenever the gear is not down and locked the light turns off. This was set as a safety feature since the wing is all wood and one would not want a hot light left on inside of the wing. The neat side effect is that you can turn the landing lights on and forget them for your flight since the aircraft will automatically turn them off and on for you as the landing gear is cycled.
