Brief Description:  Lower Fuselage Access Panel Continued

Adding the fuselage lower access panel is really alot of work. I removed the tape and sanded each of the blocks I added down to the right height to allow installation of the access panel. Next I measured and cut the access panel from .060" aluminum to make it match the height of the aircraft skin. I cut it oversize and used a belt sander to make it fit correctlt. The edges and corners were then cleaned up further by hand sanding. Next 8 screw locations were marked 1/4" in from the edges at the centers of the side blocks and .75" in from each eadge for the end 4 screws. The screw positions were center punched, drilled and counter sunk for #6 machine screws. Next I put the door in place and drilled for the location of one of the screws. The door was removed and I enlarged the hole for the screw insert. The door was put back on and fastened in place. All the other holes were pilot drilled. Off with the door again and enlarge the holes. I then installed the remaining inserts. The door was put back on and I used waxed single edge razor blades to give me straight edges to work final filler against.
