Welded (had welded) a K1000-4 nutplate onto the bottom of WD-409 tail spring mount. Bent the "arms" of the nutplate around the tube and had it welded to the tail spring mount. Figured that it would be nearly impossible to get a washer and a nut in place for the AN4 bolt once everything is rivetted in place, so a nutplate was the only solution. The welds on the nutplate are only there to carry the torque of the bolt, not the potential loads during tailwheel operation. Fabricated a shim for the tail spring mount, goes between WD-409 and F-111. Primed everything (including the tail spring mount).
