Brief Description:  Wheel assembly - cont.

I followed the wheel assembly process as best I could from the Oshkosh forum I attended, but reality was more difficult the first time around. I followed the following steps:
1. Vacuum out the tire to make sure there's not debri inside (used crevice tool on shop vac)
2. Sprinkle tire talc inside tire and distribute evenly
3. Insert inner tube with valve stem aligned with red dot on tire. The innertube needs to be almost completed deflated to do this. I didn't have a valve stem removal wrench which would have made that part easier.
4. Partially inflated inner tube. This turned out to be the tricky part. If inflated too much then I couldn't get the 2 wheel halves lined up well enough to get the bolts through. If inflated too little, the valve stem would bind so I couldn't access it to add air with out pushing it into the wheel. It took 2 or 3 tries on each wheel to get it to manageable level.
5. Install wheel halves and bolt together. The challenge was getting the valve stem through the hole. I also reached in through the axle holes to make sure the 2 halves were touching so I didn't accidently pinch the inner tube. ***The nyloc nuts were on and off at least 3 times so will need to check if need replacing at same time bearings are regreased. I also just snugged the nuts so they have not been torqued to the specifed value. That will also be done when the bearings are done.***
6. Inflate the tires to 30psi. I discovered that the angle of the valve stem pins it against the wheel rim when the tires are not fully inflated. That makes it difficult to get the air fitting on the stem to fully inflate the tire. So I used a screwdriver with no sharp edges or corners to pry the stem ot enough to get a cord behind it. Then I could pull on the cord to get the stem our where adding air was possible. I filled the tires to 30psi, but need to check for the specified pressure. Also, I need to recheck after a day since the inner tubes will likely stretch some.
