Back in the shop tonight to tackle some of the trim tab...I looked at alot of build logs and studied the manual and plans and dove in.
I went somewhat out of order from the instructions. Started off by drilling the hinge to the trim tab itself. 1st I measured from the outboar of the hinge in 3/8 of and inch and drew a line for reference. I then clamped the hinge onto the trim tab making sure I could see the line i just drew in the most outer hole in the trim tab and drilled that hole. I then measured from the center of the hole to the edge of the hinge and drew a line the length of the hinge.....I clecoed the hinge back on made sure the line was in the center of all the holes and drilled, celcoe, drill, clecoe...etc...till the end.
I used a piece of angle alumn to use as a straight edge to make sure the elevator and trim tab trailing edge matched up. I put a clecoe clamp on the inboard of the hinge to hold it into plance and drilled the first hole. Once that hole was drilled all I had to do was make sure that the trim tab was up against the angle and continue to drill and cleco working outboard. So far it worked GREAT!!!
