Brief Description: cast elevator counter-balance weights
The elevator is mass balanced using lead weights on the forward corners of each siide of the elevator. The manual calls for using multiple layers of 1/8" sheet lead cut to shape, stacked and attached to the elevator. The factory sent me some photos from a current LS model showing their method.
I elected to cast solid counter-weights. I got lead wheel balancing weights from the local tire shop and cast a lead "billet" in a Altoids can. I cut and shaped the billet into the two counter balance weights, primed and painted them, then installed them on the elevators. This was probably a lot of work for little benefit as the weights are on the bottom surface of the elevator.
