Consider this a "catch-all" post regarding work since moving the plane to the airport.
Moving to the hanger from the home shop has been much more effort than I had anticipated. My hanger is a portable T-Hanger located at the Fallbrook Airpark (L18). The price is definitely right for Southern California, but the hanger is pretty minimalistic, especially when compared to my shop where I had the project prior to the move.
The hanger has no power. 110v utility service is not available and cannot be brought in. I decided prior to renting the hanger that I would install a solar electric system. Sean assisted and we installed a large solar panel on the roof of the hanger. Inside we added a pair of golf-cart batteries, a charge controller and a small inverter. If things work out as planned, I will get a larger inverter and add batteries to the system as needed. For now, I have power for hand tools, florescent lights and a large box fan.
I also had to build and install some shelving units for parts storage, a couple of sturdy workbenches and some wall racks for parts. All of this just ate up a lot of time, so I did little actual work on the plane this month (well, we also did a couple of trip/vacations, including a trip to Lake Powell, but that is another story).
The hanger is just about in a workable state.
