I began the installation of the left wing root-rib cover panels and the fuel sight gauges. The manual is not very clear on this installation, and the various parts appear on three different parts diagrams/lists in three different sections of the parts manual. Thankfully I had some high definition photos I had taken of Bill Lind's wing root sections to provide more detail.
A word to prospective builders: If you do not have a local S7 to occasionally look at, examine or use as a reference, take as many photos as possible of any S7 you happen to get near. Thre are no S7's of any kind anywhere near where I live. I have used photos of Gene Salvatore's plane, Fred Weavers plane, Bill Lind's plane, two different factory demo planes, Emmit's plane, Wayne Norris's plane, Ollie's plane (photos he posted online), photos in the Yahoo Rans S7 builders forum etc. Joel Milloway sent me numerous photos in a powerpoint that I use as well. Several other S7 builders have sent photos of specific parts/assemblies/installations in response to questions I have posted. Without this assortment of photos I would not be anywhere near as far along as I am.
I have taken photos of most all of the assemblies in the building process, and fully intend to share them with other builders on request. This web project site limits the number of photos you can post to three per entry. I have many, many more photos that I have not posted in this log.
I addition to the root-rib panel work, I did some misc pickup work that has accumulated over the past few months. This included mounting the aileron mass-balance weights with the finish screws, trimming the boot cowl fabric at the door openings etc.
