Brief Description:  MAC stick grip and trim servo indicator wiring

I took a trip to the Ray Allen Co today. Fortunately they are relatively close-by. I was convinced that I had a problem with the MAC control head as described yesterday. After describing the problem to them they told me that the tollerances on the unit are very, very close, and that due to a change in the injection mould for the unit this occasionally happens. They suggested that I file off a small amout of material to increase the clearance in the area that I had rubbing marks.

While I was there I picked up a spare MAC control head just in case I cannot solve the problem with the file. They also set me up with some 6-pin connectors to use in wiring the indicator LED and servo unit. The wires in both the servo and the LED unit are very small, 24 or 26 gauge, so I wanted to use some kind of reinforced connector rather than trying to butt-splice, solder or crimp the wires together. I have a photo showing the connector. It is a little hard to pick out. It is the grey and black plastic unit wire-tied to the cross-tube just below the radio housing.

Back at the shop I did a little work on the control head and got it to go together. I had to re-solder a couple of wires as well. Hopefully all will work as intended, and if not, I do have the spare unit sitting on the shelf.

The connector for the small wires worked nicely. Working with and soldering such little wires is a little exercise in patience. Fortunately, I got my sons a lighted magnifying articulating-armed unit for painting microscopic Warhammer figures (think really small and intricate toy solders from another world), and I conscripted that for the duration of the wiring job.
