After discussion with several experienced airplane mechanics I came to believe that I needed to re-design my electrical system to improve several issues.
First, RANS does not specify the use of a contactor/solonoid to isolate the battery. There has been much discussion on the Yahoo S7 site about installing a contactor in between the battery negative terminal and the ground cable. I talked with Bill Lind at length and he sent me a schematic and a complete parts list detailing the installation of a contactor. I ordered the parts from B&C and will install them per Bill's schematic.
I also redesigned the switch and breaker schematic to change the master switches to simple on-off switches instead of using breaker-switches.
Next, I added a couple of in-line breakers to protect several of the systems independantly instead of grouping them onto a single breaker.
