Brief Description:  Alternator Cable FWF

This turned out to be a multi day project due to the fact that because of the propeller oil line there was not much tiedown point on the engine case. It took a number of tries before an acceptable solution was found. I decided to do with the #6 cable even though VANS shows a #8 cable for the 60 amp alternator. Better be safe than sorry. I have purchased the fat cable crimper from "bandc" which came in really handy in putting on the ring terminals. Also put on heat-shrink at each end. The only tiedown point that ultimately worked out is located below the oil filler door. Because of the oil filler door location I had to make an offset bracket from 0.5" wide steel stock that will place the cable about 2" from the oil pan edge. This can be seen on the pictures. I used rubber hoses, split when necessary, to cushion the cables. Ultimately everything look pretty solid. The rubber cushion shown on the cable (Image 3) was tied down after the picture was taken. The time shows only the work and not the design time. Go to 7/8/2009 for more pictures.
