Brief Description:  Install the Archer WingTip Com Antenna

The SA-001A wing tip COM antenna is designed for operation of vertcally polarized energy in the frequency range of 118 to 136MHz. I have bent the ground plane to install the antenna at a position as much vertical in the wing tip as possible. This gives the maximum vertical height possible with the limited space available. The antenna will tilt upward from the base of the wingtip with approximately 40 degrees. The 1/2" bent flange of the ground plate will be installed under the platenuts that are used to install the wing tip. In order to give suppor for the rest of the antenna I will make two fiberglass suport strips. Each of these requires a mold. One of the molds is made of foam as shown. it will be a U shaped fiberglass fixture that will hold in position the top strip of the antenna. I also made a Z shaped fiberglass stiffener to steady the forward antenna strip. The mold for this stiffener was a properly shaped aluminum fixture that I shaped in place until it fit and held the antenna in the proper position. Took a lot of bend and fit and fiberglassing to get to this point.
