Brief Description:  Service Bulletin 14-12-22

Check for proper orientation and installation of WD-631-PC Nose Stop Flange. The flange was oriented incorrectly, but because the aircraft has not taxied or flown there was no damage warned by the Service Bulletin. I decided to remove the nose wheel and correct the problem. First I had to figure out how to raise the nose wheel. As it turns out it takes about a 100 pounds applied at the root of the horizontal stabilizer to lift the nose wheel off the ground. I positioned the wing jack that I made earlier to serve as a stop to determine the height of the nose wheel from the ground. Since I had two 25 pound lead shot bags, I borrowed two more from my neighbor to come up with the required 100 pounds. It worked as intended.
