Last few days I was trying to decide where to put the ELT unit. I have only one access hole available through the center section that is not full. It is one of the right most holes, so I will have to put the ELT on the right side of the fuselage to keep the wire runs short. VANS sell a mounting plate for the ELT to install on the “J” channels on the right side. I ordered this mounting plate and will install it when it gets here. Today I removed the right baggage compartment floor to start the installation. Once the floor was removed I drilled two ½” holes, installed anti-chafing snapins and run the wire that connects the display unit with the ELT. Because of the difficult location this took a long time. In order to connect the ELT with the Garmin GLT I had to order from Aircraft Spruce a small spool of Shielded 3 connector wire. More waiting (will do paper work).
