Brief Description:  Rudder Fairing

In the morning I sanded of the epoxy fill that I used to fill the screw holes on the rudder bottom. Since I already have the platenuts installed on the rudder bottom I will have to find a way to find the holes and transfer them to the rudder bottom. I decided to make a hole finder from two 1" aliminum strips and and a rivet. Clecoed the two together, drilled 3 #40 holes at one end and a #30 (for the rivet) hole at the other end. Installed the rivet in the #30 hole in one of the strips and squized it just enough to have it stay in the hole. The matching #30 hole is used to mark the location of the hole in the rudder bottom. Clecoed the other end together. The picture should give a good idea of the usefullness of this tool. I used this tool to find and mark all the screw holes on the rudder bottom. Drill out all the holes to #28 and counter sink for the screw heads.Cleco the rudder bottom on the rudder. Things look pretty good.
