Brief Description: Drill elevator horns for pushrod
Drill the lower bolt holes in the elevator horns (the push rod is attached here).I clamped the horizontal stabilizer to my work bench and mounted the elevatorrs on the stabilizer. Ilamped the elevator counter weight arms to the stabilizer making sure they cannot move and they are aligned with the stabilizer.The horns did not match (approx 1/4" misallignement). the right horn was aft so according to instructions I drilled a #30 pilot hole (DWG 27A). Made a wood block with parallel sides that fit tightly between the horns. Using my drill press I drilled a #30 hole perpendicular to the faces of the wood block. Clamped the block between the horns aligning the holes on the right horn and the wood block. Using the block as a guide I drilled the hole in the other horn. Mount the stabilizer on the fuselage.
