It was hard to understand how to do the rudder deflection check. Not mentioned in my manual. But in preflight inspection 601XL, I found a good explanation. With a plywood sheet attached under rudder, marked with min/max lines. And a wire that indicates 0 line, it was really easy to check. Max elevator movement was also adjusted with a rubber distance.
