Brief Description:  Aileron Trim Tab Located

Beautiful, sunny and relatively warm day today - good for some shop time.

Laid out rivet hole locations for the trim tab channel on the upper and lower aileron skins.

Mated the trim tab/hinge subassembly to the aileron. Drilled 3/32" rivet line holes through upper skin and through trim tab hinge. Used a piece of plywood inserted under the upper skin as a backer to support drilling.

Removed tab/hinge then located channel between upper and lower skins. Used creative locating and clamping methods to hold face of channel in place to drill upper and lower rivet line holes.

Used step drill, snips and files to create the 32x20 + 18x20 opening for the actuator rod.

Laid out 72x72 opening for the actuator motor access. The width of the lower skin causes this location to be about 14mm short of the 149mm specified on the drawing. This opening is large enough to allow extraction of the actuator if the need shoud arrise but it's primary function is to allow inspection and service of the actuator and rod. For this reason I am going to move the center of the opening over the rod instead of the center of the actuator body.
