Brief Description:  Attended Corvair College #22

Took Friday off from work and drove with my core and tools the relatively short 3 hours to Corvair College #22 at Georgetown Airport. From the time I got there until about noon on Sunday it was rainy and cold. But, we were in a well lit, large hanar so everyone dressed warm and forged ahead on various stages of disassembly and reassembly.

Spent the first day disassembling the sheet metal, bell housing, heads, cylinders and piston/rods. On Saturday I pulled the balancer, removed the oil pump housing and split the cases. Once the crank and cam were removed there wasn't much left to do on my motor so I packed up all the parts and spend the rest of my day helping others and learning all I could. Spent Sunday morning loading up and waiting for Blaine to put the finishing touches on his 2850 so I could see it run.

Our hosts Kevin Purtee and his wife Shelley Tumino did a fantastic job setting up, organizing and bringing in meals. Everyone had the bonus of seeing a different motor run on the test stand each day. There is no substitute for this kind of environment for learning, networking and accomplishing something meaningful.

Pretty sure I'm going to build a 2850cc, 110 HP version with most of the parts offered by William and a 5th bearing (not sure which yet). Dan Weseman is trying to introduce a billet crank for $2,900 which may also be on my purchase list by the time I get to that point.
