A couple of weeks ago I received an email from fellow Michigan builder Marcus Wegmeyer inviting me to drive up to his shop and spend the day working on his 601XLB project. I gladly accepted made the 2.5 hour drive up to Gaylord where I met Marcus for a nice breakfast before heading over to the shop. We spent the next 7 hours working rear of the fuselage shown in Image 2. We made a reasonable amount of progress but more importantly we had some quality fellowship around a project that we both enjoy. At the end of our work session I signed his build log then made the 2.5 hour trek back to Fenton feeling a new sense of inspiration and connection to my own project. It may still be a while before I pick up construction on my project but this was a reminder that I do indeed want to continue that journey.
Thank you Marcus for the invite and for entrusting a part of your build to my measurments and drilling. I hope we can do it again.
