The CH650 project is now on indefinite hold as I have co-purchased a Cherokee 140 with my brother-in-law. The story behind this change of direction can be found on my blog at N98297.blogspot.com. The short story is that I had a great opportunity to fly now rather than wait until who knows when to complete the 650 and start flying then. The Cherokee was (and still is) a project unto itself but one that evolves with short periods of down time that allows me to log some flying time.
I am keeping the completed parts of the 650 and hope to continue the build a few years from now after my kids are out of college, the Cherokee is paid off, I'm closer to retirement and have the time required to make steady progress on the project. One thing is for sure; if/when I do return to this project I plan to complete it using kits. Scratch building was challenging, enjoyable and rewarding but just a bit too tedious and time consuming for my tastes.
