Brief Description: Finished wings!
|
|
Tonight I finished the wings. I deburred, primed and riveted the right flap hinge onto the wing and then installed the flap with the piano hinge wire. Finally, I glued in the pvc conduit for the wing tip wires and Vicki helped me put the right wing into the rolling holder. Next, I cleaned up the shop and began studying the fuselage plans and drawings. I will need to buy some lumber to construct the fuselage jig. This is a real mile stone. The wings were a challenge at times, but, in the final analysis, fun to build. There are a few dings and raised rivet heads in the wings, so they are not perfect by any means. However, I am proud of the work I did on the wings. I also enjoyed the help I received from dear friends; Jim Anderson on the fuel tanks and Sam Beale on the wing skins. Without them, I literally could not have finished the wings. Now, on to the fuselage. Although the fuselage is no more important than the wings, I believe it will be special, since it will hold my fragile body in flight. I have bugeted one year to complete the fuselage. Let's hope that I make that goal better than the one I set for the wings (I thought I would complete the wings by June).
