Brief Description:  Repositioned right wing tank and clecoed top skins

Tonight I took off the right fuel tank to reposition it so that the skins would fit together well. Before, the tank skin overlapped the leading edge skin on the right wing, resulting in an unsightly bump. I had to remove all of the screws and bolts holding the tank on and then I fiddled with the tank placement until it all fit right. Then I inserted the tank screws before placing and tightening the bolts. Now it fits great. I will also do this for the left wing fuel tank, since it has a similar, though somewhat smaller bump. At least I am getting a lot of practice removing and reinstalling the wing tanks. To finish up the night, I clecoed the top skins onto the right wing (hopefully for the last time). I have reached another milestone, having worked for one year and 400 hours on the plane. I received my tail kit exactly one year ago today. It has been a great year and I have really enjoyed the construction process. Most of all, I have cherished the friends I have made; other builders who have helped guide me and special friends who have encouraged me. I am grateful for them all. Later this month, Vans says they will ship the fuselage kit. I figure that it will make it to my basement by July 4. I do not think I will be fully finished with the wings by then, but I will be close enough. I am already starting to think about an engine, a paint scheme and a panel design. But all of that will come soon enough. For now, I will enjoy finishing up the wings.
