Brief Description:  Wing skin prep, day three

Jim is coming over in the morning (Saturday) to help with wing skin prep. To prepare for a deburring and dimpling session, I removed the plastic skin from portions of the outside face of the top skins. These strips of plastic need to be removed so that you can debur and dimple the holes. We leave the plastic skin on the rest of the outside face because it helps to protect the aluminum from scratches. We remove the strips with a soldering iron (with the tip rounded with a file so that it will not scratch the aluminum) and a yard stick. Once I had prepped all of the top wing skins, I spent the last 45 minutes deburring some of the rib holes in the left wing.
