Brief Description:  Final prep before closing the right tank

I had a long talk with a dear friend today who encouraged me to get back cracking on the project and to be more detailed with my log. Something I have not mentioned; I am trying to get back in shape for my stress EKG test so that I can pass and get my medical certificate back. I have climbed Stone Mountain 6 days in the last week. I am trying to settle into a schedule where I climb it every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I will walk 1.5 miles around our (moderately hilly) neighborhood. I called Vans Aircraft today and they said that quickbuild fuselage kits will take every bit of 4 months to ship. I am trying to figure out when I will finish the wings so that I can order the fuselage. If I order the "slow" build kit, I can have it shipped a good 6-8 weeks earlier. The guys at Vans are encouraging me to order the slow build kit to keep the continuity of building. If I have to stop for several months, waiting for shipment, they say it may derail the project. Also, going with the slow build kit will save $4,000. I went down into the shop to escape American Idol on TV. My wife is addicted to it, but I have just about had my fill. Down in the basement, I prepared the right tank for final closure. I fitted the fuel pickup and then fitted the fuel sender unit. I had to bend the wire float assembly so that the sender indicated 32 ohms full and 240 ohms empty. Unlike the left tank, I could not get it to register right despite over an hour of fiddling and rebending the float wire. Finally, I got it so that it read 137.9 ohms in the empty position and 30 ohms in the full position. It is much more important to get the correct reading at the empty position than anything else (in fact, FAA regulations state that the only time a fuel guage must be absolutely accurate is at the empty position). Finally, I oriented and clecoed the tank attach brackets to the rear baffle and then cleaned everything for MEK to prepare for final riveting and sealing. I may accomplish this tomorrow nigh
